The team is formed by Staff and Students of Victoria University of Wellington. The team is trained to respond to an emergency at Victoria University, either to help the emergency services or - in extreme cases when the University is cut off from outside and immediate help - to act independently.

Acknowledgements.
The team would like to acknowledge the support and resourcing that it receives from Victoria University. Without the University's commitment to civil defence since 1978 the Victoria Rescue team would not exist. The University is the team's primary funder, although the team has also received grants from these
funding agencies.
